I started today with a fantastic hangover. Luckily a mixture of coffee and lots of water made it pass fairly quickly and I was ready for the day! Roxanne's rad friend, Ugo, is visiting from France and staying at the hostel for a week so I met him in the morning as I was recovering. Patrick is a history major and he really wanted to check out the museums so him, Dylan, Ugo and I walked past the massive TV tower in Alexanderplatz to the museum island and entered the German Historical Museum. Little did we know how incredibly massive the place is. We started on the second floor which covers German history from around 100 BC to 1918. Each 100 years or so has its own section and there was so much to see that we were starting to burn out before we even reached the end of this first room. After taking a quick break and running outside to grab a bratwurst from across the street, we dove back in and went to another massive section on the ground floor containing German history from 1918 to the present. We had gotten off to a late start today and spent over 2 hours in the first exhibit so the museum was already closing in an hour. We rushed through the exhibit but even then we didn't make it to the end by the time they kicked everyone out. Dylan, Ugo and I were exhausted of museums but Patrick wanted to visit a couple more so we said goodbye to him and headed back to the hostel. We relaxed in the bean bag chairs for a couple hours and chatted with people in the hostel. I suggested that we play some drinking games so we stocked up on Sternburg Exports from the store downstairs and by 11 pm there were around 20 people (the workers, sisters from Florida, friends from Victoria, a couple from Brazil and people from Mexico City, California, Germany, Canada and Australia) crowded on the lounge area floor playing King's Cup and 21 until early in the morning. I had such a blast and I can't even explain how awesome this hostel and everyone I've met here is. I originally planned 3 nights and I've already booked for another 2. If anyone ever goes to Berlin, Hostel Aloha is where it's at!
