Berlin is an incredible city with no shortage of things to do or see. I could spend weeks here but I've already stayed twice as long as I originally planned and there's still so much more to see in Europe. So this morning I packed everything up, grabbed breakfast and said goodbye to everyone at Hostel Aloha. Three guys from North Carolina (Rodie, Andrew and Brad) happened to be heading to Prague as well so we caught the bus right outside down to the main station and grabbed 4 seats in an empty compartment on the train. We didn't realize that some were reserved so after people started showing up asking for our seats we had to grab all our gear and make our way down the length of the train trying to find a compartment with enough seats for the four of us. Luckily there was one left! The ride after that went smoothly. The scenary was beautiful entering the Czech Republic and we could even spot little castles on hilltops from our window. We all caught up on a bit of sleep and watching some episodes of their favorite show Curb Your Enthusiasm. It took less than 5 hours and suddenly we were in Prague! They were staying at a hostel across town so we made plans to meet in the city center later for dinner and then I headed out to find my hostel. It really wasn't that far from the train station but I managed to get lost and it took me about an hour to finally find it. Just as I was walking up I ran into a guy named Santiago that I met back in Berlin! Three Australians (Courtney, Alex and Mike) that I had met in Berlin were there as well so I hung out with them for awhile before taking off to meet the boys downtown. As soon as you get past the train station, you enter the Old Town which is simply beautiful. I met them underneath the clock tower just before 10 pm in the main square. A big crowd was gathering to see the Procession of the Apostles which happens every hour. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. The bells rang and statues' heads turned and that was it. We headed back the way I had came because Brad heard there was an area of town hopping with clubs and bars. We ended up walking around for an hour and a half and found nothing so we just grabbed some pizza at the only restaurant that was still open and then went back to our hostels. Tomorrow we have plans to catch a tour so I'm looking forward to seeing all of this beautiful city!
