18 days to go!!? Since the last post we have been up to Scotland for a pre departure meeting with CCUSA, and what a wonderful waste of a meeting it was too. Firstly we had to endure a half hour of sales pitch from a yank 'intrepid travel' salesman, who organises trips throughout the states (for those who need someone to hold their hand in such a wild and untracked country!!?), then followed 2hours jibber jabber from a woman telling everyone how summer camp works, it seemed at least an hour of it was devoted to her telling 'the kids', about insurance and what happens if you get fired even though she gave us the statistic that only 0.2% of 800 each year get fired!!? Fortunately the weekend was made worthwhile with spending it with Dave and Bev who, as always, supplied the best hospitality and finest foods with relaxing appreciative company you could ask for. Considering the stress received from April it was a really nice break away. The only thing we really did discover from the meeting was that we can't re-enter into the US if we go to Canada, so our heavily planned canoe trip has now had to be cancelled. We're gutted to say the least. So plans have now been changed to leave the US early and to spend longer in Fiji, not that bad an alternative suppose!
As an addendum to this I have also been told by Jen that these blogs need to be less like essays and more interesting, reading back I agree but in my defence, to try and make the planning process interesting while sitting in a rainy UK, with the disruptions to the plans coming thick and fast is not easy. What I do hope ......(know) is that as soon as we get outta here there will be a lot more 'fun and interesting' things to write about. On that note, together we shall shout 'Roll on 18days'.
