Hello from Kuala Lumpur
We're spending a couple of days here in Kuala Lumpur as we make our way down to an island called Pulau Sibu which is off the east coast of west Malaysia just off Mersing and about two hours north of Singapore.
We left Koh tao two nights ago and took the night boat to Suratani. The boat was an old wooden thing with mattresses on the floor to sleep on and not enough headroom to stand up. I think I only managed to get about an hours sleep before arriving in Suratani at 5 in the morning.
From Suratani we got a mini bus to Hatyai where we were transferred to a bigger bus and it was farewell Thailand and hello Malaysia. I think we crossed the border into Penang at about 2pm. Where we had to take all our bags off the bus and carry them through the border control. This took forever to get everyone through and back on the bus.
We finally got away from Penang at about 4 and arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 11pm. We had made a booking at a hostel on the internet but forgot to write down the exact address so we asked a taxi driver if he new where Cosmopolitan Hostel in Chow kit was and after talking with some other drivers he came back and told us yes he knows.
But he didn't and we drove round and round looking for it before we found an internet shop open and Sira went in and found the address online.
We spent today looking around the city which is much nicer than Bangkok, much less smelly and not so crowded. But there's no tuk tuks in Kuala Lumpur so I had to settle for getting around by train
We leave here tomorrow at lunch time and head down to Mersing where we stay tomorrow night and then on Wednesday go across to the island. Were going to be working at Sibu Island Cabanas resort managing the diving between us.
Will let you no more when we arrive.
