Got to the bus station at 7am.. was very very busy! It was like 9am tubestation in London except everyone trying to sell stuff or take money! One guy who didnt work for the bus company tried to take money for our luggage! Dar Es Slam was nice, really insightful but we were glad to be on our way to Moshi! The bus was meant to have air con but i think it was broken so we used windows instead... Air con sounds like luxury but on a tiny bus in 38degree heat it was fairly needed! We met a guy called Patrick, he was the manager of the bus company, he was really nice and gave us advice and told me he wishes his kids could go to Uni in England! I hope they do too someday! :) After a very late start we were on our way...so we thought until we stopped again and a policeman came and gave a 20 minute speech in Swaheeli..unfortuantley the only word I know is toilet and im pretty sure he didnt say that so we just nodded our heads and smiled!
The drive was amazing though, drove through some really poor towns and was unreal to see how some people live and what theyre day is like - it honestly does make you feel greatful for what you have, its like watching Comic Releif but theyre 10x more positive out here! We arrived in Moshi.. was supposed to take 8 hours but it took over 10..think we are learning that we need to be fairy patient with Africa as it doesnt seem to follow clocks... in both hotels theyve had clocks with time from round the world but none with the time here on them! Crazy! They also dont have food shops here haha so we had to roam around and try and find some crazy market selling strange but nice food!Everytime the bus stops people come up to the window and bang and try and sell stuff - even when you say no they just smile, its really nice! In England if you say no you just get a dirty look or something!
So we arrived and found a taxi, we tried to ask him for ID as he was just driving a car without taxi plates, he didnt really understand so we decided we would risk it for a biscuit and went with it... it was fine and he was really nice, he gave me a baby bannana which was adorable and he kept calling me sister. :) We got a taxi to springlands... its bloody expensive but we have to stay here for Killi, its nice and safe though which is what we need because we are right in the middle of a shanti town. He told us we would have to have a horrible room for tonight as they are out of nice ones, the room is okay though, a twin room that comes free with a sort of ensuite and a leaking broken aircon :) tommorow were gunna go to town and sort all of our Killi payments out -hidden ones!! :( - and try to get all our stuff together!
Its VERY hot here and very humid so were hoping for a bit of breeze for Killi which we start on Monday so there will be another blog after then!!! WISH US LUCK! Dont forget you can still sponsor us...the links are on our facebooks and we ARE going to the top (
we have more reason to now parents - you know what we mean! thank you guys for today :) xxx)
