We caught a bus..which was actually a taxi... from Cusco to a place called Ollantaytambo, from here we had to wait around for about 5 hours for a train to a place called Agues Callientos. We hung around Ollantaytambo which is a very very small town and it was quite touristy as its where everyone gets the train to Macchu Picchu. We got on the train which was horrific, it went over a river for quite a way and we actually thought we were gunna fall in, we had also booked Macchu Picchu VIA a company and werent sure if there would be anyone waiting for us the other side and it was C.H.U.C.K.I.N.G it down with rain!
We got of with our HEAVY backpacks - not sure how mine keeps getting heavier!! - and THANKFULLY we saw a lady with a "Marlons Travel" sign which made us smile! then we had to walk to the hostel but it only took like 10 minutes..downstrairs of the hostel looked like a building site but our room was absoloutley lush with a private bathroom! When I say lush.. I mean like hostel lush, not hilton lush!! By this time it was 11.30pm and we had to get up at 3.30 AM for Macchu Picchu to try and get a stamp on our ticket for an exclusive mountain called Wynapicchu!
3.30AM -
We are SO tired by this point and we have to hike it in the drk to the bus stop to wait an hour and a half to get on the first bus load! Thankfully we did and then we were on our way to Macchu Picchu, we werent sure what the weather would be like so we put LOADS of layers on and our waterproofs - Daddy Sparkes those HORRENDOUS waterproof trousers that you brought me I hate to say came in usefull even though I look like an elephant in them!! - the journey to Macchu Picchu was about 25 minutes and when we got there around 5.45am it was thankfully light and we managed to get tickets to this Wynapicchu mountain which is the biggest Mountain you can see in the blog photo - WE CLIMBED THAT!!!!!!
We were meant to meet a guide at 7.45 AM.. we couldnt be bothered..so we didnt and decided to tour Macchu Picchu ourselves until 10am when our climb up that huge mountain or as adam called it "a hill" began.
Macchu Picchu itself is honestly so amazing! The views are really unreal and it turned out to be a REALLY sunny day so we both had to take lots of layers off! I will add the photos but you should ALL go and see it for yourselves!
WYNAPICCHU - Adam later named this mountain as Jasmine - Wyna - Picchu because I wined so much!
The mountain for Adam I think was a piece of cake! He didnt seem to struggle at all.. me on the other hand haha, I did not enjoy the climb up. nor the climb down to be fair! I made it to the top pillar and Adam went about 10 minutes higher to the very top of the mountain but I couldnt manage it and im proud of how high I got so its ok! HOWEVER on a positive... we couldnt believe the view!
AND.... WE SAW LLAMAS AND LIZARDS! WILD LLAMAS! They were amazing :) I think Adam was glad we saw them as all I kept going on about is how I needed to see a Llama haha!
After a long day I decided to get a bus back to the hostel but super strength legs Adam decdied to WALK!!!!!!!!! for another 1 hour 30 mins, godnose how he did it but he did! I got back to the town and had a look around and went to our hostel...noone was there! I then met Adam and there was still noone there so we took it upon ourselves to go and get a room key and shower etc haha.
We then had to get a train back and then a bus back to Cusco and by this time we were tired, got a taxi to the same hostel we stayed in the other night and went to sleep, we are now up and about to do photos and then at 6pm getting a train back to Lima which we are prepared to be horrific as its 20 hours!
WE LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
