Yesterday we went to KensingtonPalace. We left the hostel late because we enjoyed lying around in the morning. We arrived at the palace and were going to have lunch at the Orangery, but the menu looked boring and expensive for what it was, so we went and had lunch at a Wagamama that we had seen on our walk from the tube. As we walked out of the grounds we saw a couple squirrels, so I spent some time taking photos of them as I had never seen them before. They're so cute and they came right up to us. After lunch we walked back to the palace and went in.We were give audio guides as part of the admission price, but I was disappointed when halfway through the tour we saw an actual tour going on. I think I might go back later to go on the tour. The first part of the tour was about court life, then there was an exhibition about Diana, which we walked through quickly as it wasn't very interesting - some pictures, a couple of her dresses and big screen projections of footage of the princess. It makes me sad every time I see footage of her with her boys (especially the candid shots) that they lost their mother. We walked on and went through the King and Queen's chambers. That was interesting, and the rooms were beautiful, but the design is too austere and bland for my liking, I much prefer the elegance and flamboyance of the French palaces. After the tour we went to walk around Hyde Park, but it had gotten colder and had begun to rain, so we decided to go back to the hostel. We had a look at a couple of stores on the way back to see if we could find me a scarf and a bag, but none of them had what I needed, so we went home.
Today, we did pretty much nothing. We decided to just stay in the room and laze around, which was really nice as we hadn't really done it since we arrived.
