Today was the most incredible thing. I was expecting to be hugely jetlagged after passing so many time zones yesterday and flying for 30 hours. But I went to sleep at 2200 hrs last night and rose at 0900 to a beautiful breakfast and great conversation with Heather and John.I ahve not felt fuzzy in the head all day. We went for a walk around Caddington then had lunch and then drove to Harpenden, a quaint Hertfordshire village. Had a browse and took some photos then off to Luton Hoo for high tea. A grand old estate now a hotel and restaurant. Once the home of the aristocratic family, Wernhers, who invited the Queen and Prince Philip to stay for their honeymoon.Very nice, ornate furnishings, beautiful carpets and sweeping staircase. We dined like royalty with bone china and silver teapots, scones with clotted cream and jam. Very yummy! Check out the photos to see more. Having a WA chardonnay as Heather prepares pasta for dinner. I am feeling very loved. Tomorrow we train into London to go on the London eye and see the show The War Horse. Very excited. Hope to see Tate Modern Art gallery and Globe theatre as well.
Most embarassing moment yesterday was nearly missing the connection in Dubai. Second to last person on plane, everyone staring at me. The plane was delayed an hour while they waited for me and then for a place in the queue to leave. So glad they waited. I was at the wrong gate and had to sprint the length of the Dubai airport from C23 to B19. Very stiff today in the legs but so glad I made it, Heather and John waited patiently at Heathrow to pick me up , such lovely friends. The duvet on my bed felt like a cloud to sleep under. So good to stretch out horizontally!
