The first day in Santa Cruz we decided to go to the Santa Cruz Zoo. We asked at our hotel how to get public transport to the zoo, which turned out being cheaper and easier than we thought! So what happens is a small bus will run along a route, and everyone pays the same price no matter if you go 0.2km or 10km and the price... 1.75 Bolivianos each (which is about $0.27 each) so that was awesome. After a lazy day in Uyuni getting our bags in order switching rooms, taking our washing to a Laundromat, backing up photos and having a drink while playing cards for a few hours (Karl got burnt on one side of his face only so Jane called him two face) we had a lazy night talking with other tourists, cooking our own dinner with little resources. So we left La Paz with high hopes of a bus we could relax and possibly get some sleep on, we had booked the same day we were travelling, so with the public holiday and the fact that some operators have 2 hour lunch breaks it took us some time to actually get a ticket for us both, the next time we want a bus we will get one through the actual bus station. So since we last blogged, a lot has happened. Last weekend, we were in La Paz, which is the capital of Bolivia. We got there on friday night and Karl was still sick, so we called the (english speaking, american trained!) doctor and he sent out one of his colleagues to our hostel.
