Well we managed to climb the still smoking volcano Villarica next to Pucon - was very hard work - my knee did not like the up nor the down - but it was fine the next day! Pucon is lovely - very pciture postcard - Val could learn some lessons from the fab restaurants and the service! Our hotel was stunning overlooking the lake - the Queen had stayed there too!
We spent our last day in a Chilean Rodeo which was a bit of a mistake - but heh!
Took the bus for 12 hours from Pucon via Puerto Montte to the island of Chiole to stay with a contact of Sarah´s sister - who is oyster farming there! So I can say i have eaten fresh oysters - taken out of the water and cracked open in front of me - and delivered into my mouth as I sat in the boat! Awesome!
Borrowed our host´s car and drove over the Island - very like Wales - beautiful beaches and very green as it rains alot!
Left on Thursday 1 Feb and bused back to Puerto Monte where we had another fab seafood meal before flying to Santiago for a day
Spent Friday 2 walking around Santiago - big city - not that impressed - took a steam train out on the Saturday to Santa Cruz which is in the campinere wine district and stayed the night at lovely hotel owned by an ex-arms dealer who also set up the adjoining museum which was just amazing - spent 3 hours there and could have spent more!
Spent Sunday on a bus getting back to Santiago and then flying out to Easter Island
