Boston is an amazing city - so much to do and very well geared up or tourists. Called in Salem on the way and met the worst traffic since arriving in the states. Salem was quite tacky and very much geared up for Halloween; goodness knows what it will be like there next weekend.
Friday was bitingly cold but brilliant blue sky and sunny. Spent most of the day on the 'Freedom tour' - self guided walk over 3.5 miles but then of course we were at the opposite end of the city so had the return loop to do. The same names keep coming up in various cities so our understanding of the civil war and the war of independence is improving.
Saturday we went on the subway to Harvard and it was the 49th Head of the Charles, rowing event both inter college and some international teams. Good entertainmnet. From there we wemt to MIT, Mass. Institute of Technology. In some ways that was more impressive than Harvard for us. Onto Red Sox stadium and World Trade Centre and then back to Quincy market! Great food of all types.
A very, very busy 48hrs but thoroughly enjoyable. Certainly a place to go in the future!
