Germany's gone! And it couldn't come too soon to be honest. We'd been there a lot longer than intended. We were getting a little bored and it seemed like the weather was pushing us out as well. Dresden just got colder and colder as the days went on.
So our last day there wasn't a huge bag of fun really. We need to get Katie some warm things if the weather keeps getting worse. A hat and scarf will do it. The last evening was cool though. Popped into a bar, had a few drinks. Didn't meet any locals (which is probably just as well!) then headed for an awesome pizza. At 4 Euros each too!
And today we left. Got up early, ready for our longest train ride ever. Three trains over 8 and a half hours! Morning was a rush cos no bloody shop was open. At 9 O'clock! Supermarket was shut; with a sign on the door saying 'Mon-Fri 7:00-22:00'. Why aren't you open?! Well, we got some rolls anyway and even made something for a packed lunch.
The train journey was not too bad. Got pretty boring after we'd read books and played games for long enough. But as we got closer to the Alps the landscape got more and more impressive. The huge mountains covered in snow. And Salzburg is right on the edge. It was about 15 minutes into our hotel. Wait til I put pics up. Its a lovely place. We've already had a walk round a bit of the city at night too. Place is gorgeous. Think its the prettiest yet. And all the people look like they've come straight out of a Tintin movie. This whole place belongs in a Tintin movie! Tomorrow I'll get some photos up. Now we'll try and watch Game of Thrones over the Wifi connection. Fingers crossed.
Forgot to mention - People seem very friendly and more willing to talk English here. Hotel even changed us from a twin room to a double. Website told us doubles weren't available, but there ya go. A lot more English speaking tourists too by the sound of it.

Ailsa Your blog and photos are awesome Steven - you are very good at this! I love the Dresden pictures, even if by then you were wearying a bit. Hope you both have a lovely Easter! I guess you will have at the very least many church bells in Salzburg? I look forward to hearing... PS I sent you an e mail, Katie. Lots of love as always xxxx
