Well it's now been a week since I got here... I can't believe how fast time flys by - nor can I actually believe that I'm Zanzibar. I keep saying to myself 'Where am I?' or 'How earth did I get here?' - it's all very surreal.
The music festival is amazing... such an eclectic combination of different sounds. Also you can dance however you want and nobody cares; although some of the moves that people pull would result in a stabbing or mugging if displayed in Glasgow!
It's also nice not to have to drink alcohol to have a good time... it just isn't needed over here. I think the reason we drink all the time at home is because clubs and bars are so crap!
It takes some getting used to living in a 90% muslim culture. The calls to prayer in the mosque occur 5 times a day starting at 5:30am and finishing at 7:00 pm. There are also sirens at 7:30 am and 3:30pm to mark the start and end of the working day. I have some wonderful videos from the music festival and of the tortoises on the island but i don't think the internet here is sufficiently advanced to let me upload any of them. Guess I'll just have to wait another 4 weeks until I can do that... But I get the feeling time is really going to fly by! Kwaheri Rafiki! x
