We leave the motel about 9 and head over to Williams to stop for food on the way to the Grand Canyon. It's another Dennys and I have French toast, with peaches bacon, eggs and hash brown.
Williams is part of Route 66 and has lots of cool diners and shops. The owner of the gas station we go to, an old man with a cap has huge deer skulls and antlers on his wall.
We arrive at the Grand Canyon about 11, it's pretty busy. Park up and head over to the Red Route, stopping at Hopi Point amongst others. My first view of the Canyon is just before boarding the bus. It is breath-taking, it is giant and so vast.
I get some great shots. The bottom is over a mile deep and at some points you feel a bit shaky. The cloud formations totally change the dynamics of what you see in seconds. The sun hits the different gradients, which the rocks absorb and further pronounce the colour pallet.
We head to Kopi Point for the Sunset. A quiet spot with less tourists. Sunsets at 7.23 so I go find a secluded spot on the cliff edge at about 6.45.
There is an Absorbing breeze. Then it turns silent. You can feel it coming again, rushing through the mountains .The Canyon gets eaten up by the shadows. The sun then hides behind the horizon as it sets. Amazing.
