Days 5-17..cambodia tour
After a 5hour journey to the cambodian border we had realised that immigration wasnt going to be easy as there was a que of about 2 1/2 hours!! Lucky for us we had super dino and abit of dodgy officials who took a $10 bribe so we could jump the que!! So into cambodia we went where we had once again a local dish of amok kmer :) amazing!! Then more driving to hotel in siem reap where we would spend the next few nights.
Day 6-sunrise at angkor wat..SURREAL!!what amazing view after a 4:30am start to the day..words cannot describe how magical this place is, amazing experience!!we then moved onto more temples where tomb raider was shot at and also i came face to face with a budda made of stone,lol this is definately a bucket list check off..so after that moved on to get food and got very drunk at a pubcalled angkot whats!???! Another crazy but fun night, brill end to a magical day.
Day 7-abit TLC recovering then a nice boat ride to floating village..monsoons flood the rivers banks and the rises very high..very chillaxing afternoon and a nice bit of snake was eaten on the bus home, courtesy of our guide dino.
Day 8-kompon chang next stop..another 5 hour early morning bus ride to kompon chang where we stayed along the mekong river and went on the most funniest looking bike,lol we were taken along a bamboo bridge to a lovely island where just trekked on our bikes, meeting locals, amazing views, fresh fruit from the trea and fresh sticky rice straight from bannana leaf.then a nice chillaxed ride back to hotel for abit of food and few angkor bevvys.
Day 9-pneuhn penn..more coach rides to pneuhn penn and a nice bit of tarantula for breakfast..no messing about!! Once we arrived in phnom penn we went for where i got to use the chop sticks for the first time, i was like a pro :) we then moved on to the killing fields and genocide camp, very interesting but SAD aswel.not much can really be said about these places.back to hotel for an chilled night.
Day 10-phnom penn/chombok home stay! Nice early start to the day to see more palaces and to just explore phnom penn, but managed to get some time on my own an just did my own thing.firstly went the local temple and had a good chat with 2monks and also said a few things to the almighty buddha!i then just walked and walked to just feel the city, was very nice aswel, and also stopped to watch some local footy an witnessed a cracking goal!!then a mad dash back to the hotel for our first home stay of the tour. This is where we literally stayed with the locals in a wooden hut, pretty much roughing it. The local site was fairly clean and was full of cows,chickens, rooster, pigs. Once we got off the coach the kids came running over and straight away the football was out :) was such a good hour with them, letting them get the ball and me actually using some skills and showboating..really good apart from me being covered in sweat an dirt and also with me not being able to shower for another 24h Not a good look..we then moved to a communal hut for food in the jungle somewhere, we watched a local show with the kids, singing and dancing then had some rice n noodle, food wasnt that good tbh..about half 8 we sent back to our hut where it was pitch black and 8of us shared this hut and played yahtzee, worst game ever!!
Day 11 chombok waterfall trekking/ sihanoukville beach! After a crazy.nights sleep getting woke up every hour by the roosters for miles around talking to one an other an me actually looking at the moon more than sleeping, morning arrived an went on our waterfall trek which was good, very hot and sweaty though and the waterfall wasnt actually that good, but was good the see the thick bush and to be away from citys..next was beach stop!!a nice 4hour bus ride but we finally made it an what an afternoon and night it was!!sun sand sea ... Beer manicure, pedicure, the works!!goodtimes!! James 1 california 1..
Day 12-after 4hours sleep i got up an just got on with the day, me, marc, isobele and sue went to the private beach we got tanned up, ate food and had a nice work out..then back to local beach for a full body massage, shower food, on the beach..amazing!! A nice lil chat once back at hotel then bed to pack.
Day 13-phnom penn again.but this time we just went around the indoor market for abit of haggling then onto wat phanum..nice chilled day ready for vietnam tomoro :)
