We arrived at about 6am in Nah Trang off the overnight bus from Ho Chi Minh City. We checked into our Hostel (Backpackers House) and got some much needed sleep. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get much sleep on the bus as the back seat was already taken (the best seats, more room!)
Nah Trang is a beach resort and much more chilled out than the fast pace of hectic Ho Chi Minh City. You can cross the road here in about 10 seconds whereas in Ho Chi Minh City you just have to go for it and hope you come out the otherside alive otherwise you will be standing there forever waiting to cross the road!
When we finally got up we decided that we would get some breakfast. There was a nice little tea room opposite our hostel which had been recommended by our guide book so we thought we'd give that a try! Laura had bread and jam while I opted for chicken noodle soup, which was nice and a good start to our day! The tea room also do the nicest little coconut cakes Mmmm! At only 4,000 Dong, which is about 20p, I would have quite a few of these little rascals during our stay here!
After breakfast we went for a walk along the beach although it was overcast. We debated getting a sun bed but decided against it as the weather wasn't great, good job we didn't as it didn't really brighten up! We headed back to the Hostel to chill in the room as we were still pretty knackered from the long coach journey.
We went out for a meal that night to a nice little restaurant that was also very cheap only 45,000 Dong for a main meal which is about £2.50. Bargain!
After the meal we headed back to our hostel which had a bar just to the front of it called Red Apple Bar where we had a complimentary drink for staying at the hostel. Seeing as it was happy hour we had a few cocktails, it was buy one get one free! Nice :)
The next day we woke up to better weather. The sun was breaking through the clouds which was enough for us to spend the day at the beach chilling, I say the day but we didn't get up untill 12pm, I know it's unheard of us two lying in being lazy! Oh the shame! We had a similar day to our first day really so there's not too much to report.
On our last day we woke up to blue skies and scorching sun shine! We decided we would head out early doors and hit the beach as we had not been in a beach resort where it had been this hot so thought we would work on the tan, as up to now the tan is pretty non existent! Laura spent a good few minutes applying the sun cream with great care and attention, which in hindsight I wish I had done too (I will explain later!) My thoughts at the time were in the words of Lee Evans "I will look like a greek God today, applying the mozolla cooking oil, burn me!"
We spent the day chilling on the beach and swimming in the warm bathlike sea, Laura reading her book and me listening to my iPod catching up on the Zeds and thinking how nice it is to do nothing! Arrrr The only thing I would say is that whislt trying to sleep you get pestered every 5 minutes, "Hey Mr Mr you buy something? Sunglasses, paintings" etc. That's to be expected pretty much anywhere you go I guess!
So after spending the day at the beach we walked back to the hostel and it's at this point I think to myself I feel a bit burnt and Laura says "You really look red, are you sure you put sun cream on?" I guess in all the excitement of the sun actually being out and getting a day on the beach I must have forgot to apply it in certain areas, my face and neck to be precise! Ouch!
You can see by the photos my burns I endured, I have learnt my lesson though and from now on will apply sun cream carefully and use a high factor!
Well that's all on Nah Trang.
So till the next time
Adios Amigos!
