Ladies and Gentleman
Welcome to my first blog, Laura has let me take the reins on this one, although there is not a great deal to report on from Snooky! (Sihanoukville) as it's a quite chilled out beach resort! Although when I say resort I use the term lightly as it seems as though it has sprung up over night as in places down to the beach there are not any roads which makes getting about fairly tricky! So......
We arrived in the evening from Phnom Penh off the coach to torrential downpours, good job Laura convinced me to buy the waterproofs as they came in pretty dam handy as it was hammering it down! The Tuk Tuk driver was unable to drive us to the door of our beach bungalow as we were down a track with no real road just ruble and stones which made it difficult for him to get his Tuk Tuk down so it meant him dropping us off about 150m from our Beach Bungalow, so we had to don our backpacks (complete with rain cover!) and make the journey down the beach which was pretty much pitch black so was quite difficult to see where we were going getting absolutely soaked along the way (all good fun) we finally arrived at Cloud 9 Beach Bungalows to our relief! Our home for the next 3 Nights.
We were met by Paul who I guess kind of runs the guest house, he would of showed us to our little bungalow but it was teaming down so he just pointed us in the direction of it. We found it and it was lovely or so we thought. Set in the hills just off the beach surrounded by palm trees lovely, Nice room with ensuite bathroom, fan, lovely double bed and nice balcony then Laura starts unpacking her things puts her bag on the bed only to find.........BED BUGS!
This was not the best start however me being the hero that I am managed to remove the bed bugs (at this point it should be noted that Laura spent every night here cocooned in her sleeping bag liner for the fear of being eaten alive, however turns out they didn't bite, well not very hard if they did!) and we decided to head down to the bar for a drink!
Down at the bar we met a Yank (Brian) and a German not sure of his name who were really nice and we swapped stories about this and that, whilst drinking cocktails! Paul (Guest House Guy) then started bringing out shots of Tequila! (I hate Tequila) I may have to stop here as from this point on I don't remember too much!
Days have been spent mainly chilling in the many bars that are along the beach front watching the world go by! as the weather has not been the best not too much sunshine and quite a bit of rain! Still it was nice to do nothing! We found a shared passion for Connect 4, Yes we are very Rock and Roll and I believe I have discovered a bit of a talent for connect 4 beating Laura a number of times before today when she seems to have pulled it back and started beating me, I'm not happy about this, I think she maybe cheating! :)
Another quirky thing I should mention was the little internet hut on the beach, basically a shed with 8 computers in it looking straight out to sea! Beautiful setting beats work any day of the week!
That's about all we have to report, so not much to report back on but this was always going to be a chilled out few days to recharge the batteries for the next stop on our Adventure, Vietnam.
That's it folks!
Catch ya soon
