James and Ellie in Europe
Day 8:
We overslept just a leeetle bit this morning and consequently had to pack, get ready and pack away the tent in about half an hour. Just about managed it but not gonna let it happen again!!!
We said goodbye to Chur and boarded a train to Zurich... We had originally planned a stopover in Salzburg but the trains were rubbish and at the wrong time so we went for lunch in Zurich instead....
Our stop in Zurich didn't go as planned... We didn't have time to do anything (we had quite fancied going to the zoo to see their baby snow leopard) and spent most of the time in the station!! Our lunch was bought from the local co-op. On the train we realised it wasn't what we asked for and had to buy more food!!
Next time we'll go to Salzburg hehe...
So after a week in Switzerland we were finally heading for a new country and culture etc.... except of course the language was exactly the same. The journey to Munich involved a few games of Harry Potter (score 6-4 to James) and lots of Yellow Car (Lorna and co - you have a lot to answer for) (score 75 - 45 to Ellie).
Ellie also decided to create the biggest game of squares known to man and ended up narrowly beating James 303-203 with the help of a little old German lady who also was instrumental in finishing off our jelly beans!!!
We got to Munich on time and found the hostel easily - just a street away from the station.
We had planned to "hit the town" that night and with the help of the receptionist got the night underway.
First stop was an AMAZING vegetarian restaurant in the middle of nowhereville. The food was amazing and we will be going back I reckon!! We then trekked miles out of town on the U-Bahn to a Punk/Hardcore Club which turned out to be shut despite being listed in the Munich version of Time-Out.... GRR!!!!
We stopped off for a cocktail/beer in the trendy part of town and then headed off to bed, shattered but happy...
