James and I made the move into Hanoi rugby elegance and after a short wonder around some of the nearby streets in an attempt to get bearings we waited patiently in our lovely room for Chris and Gail's (G&C) arrival. It was so good to see them after 7 months.
We didn't do too much as everyone was tired so we made a POA for the next day and headed to the Gecko for a rest and a snack and Chris and Gail's first taste of Hanoi beer! Golden drum was our next point call as it had a good view of the busy Hanoi streets below, so much activity full of hustle and bustle. The traders walking up and down with fruits, plastic toot, ready to go street food and the iconic Vietnamese cone hats. A wash and half a pack of mini eggs later we went for a swanky meal at The Green Mango, our first taste of the famous cuisine. Gail had a delicious cat fish dish, I had Duck pho (pronounce Fur) Chris had Banh chu and James had Hanoi sausage and mash!!
We were last to leave the restaurant and got mocked by Jenny on Viber as we were in bed too early, a 12:00pm curfew and we were in bed by 10:30pm! James had to have a few more Mini Eggs and then dropped them all over the floor! He desperately scrambled around on the floor picking every one up before the 5 second rule ran out. Oh did I not mention, he did all of this naked-now there's an image for you to end this blog!
