Well, we made it! After 24hrs of sitting upright on a plane we finally arrived in London. The plane trip was disgusting! We kept ourselves busy by eating ourselves silly. They just kept serving us food, so we just kept on eating it. It did help to kill time. Anyway eventually we landed in London and after catching the underground tube into London we surfaced right in the middle of Piccadilly Circus. It was amazing. The statue and the junction and all the neon lights. It completely blew us away.
We've been continuously sightseeing since our arrival. We're exhausted from all the walking and from the jet lag, but the key is not to stop. Just keep going so we don't fall asleep. Already we've seen the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, we've been on the London Eye and also taken an open topped red double decker bus tour around the city. My highlight (Nicole) so far has been Harrods. The food hall was amazing not to mention the shoes, handbags, clothes, cosmetics ect. I was in heaven. Sally's highlight was the tour through Westmister Abbey.
Our accomodation is completely substandard. From the cold trickling showers to the smelly boys we are a bit in shock! But you live and learn i guess. Seems to be a lot of snoring, farting and smelly socks lurking around the place not to mention the seven flights of stairs we have to climb to get out. And then there is the dodgy lift where you can see right down to the bottom floor from the seventh floor!! Scary.
Looking forward to out hotel stay on Sunday night and the next 3 weeks on Contiki!!
