After picking up Gaurav we headed to Mariposa/Midpines for some camping with Trace, Meredith (my nephew and niece) and their families. We were like the 3 musketeers growing up. Kinzee showed up at camp to surprise us, have dinner and deliver a plant (I got it at Disneyland when I was 4 years old...really! Hope I don't kill it!) I lived in Midpines from 7-18 years old. Setting up camp in the red dirt brought a flood of memories back! Growing up I felt tortured living so far from "everything", and hightailed it out of there a couple days after I turned 18. Going back now I can fully appreciate the beauty that was in my own back yard! My dad used to say it's as close to heaven as I would ever get...let's see!
We spent a beautiful day boating and tubing on Bass Lake, then a short visit with more Aunties. We ate dinner at The Happy Burger, and I bumped into a high school friend. How did you even recognize me Kenny? It's still a very small town...just the way the locals like it!
After a tour of the town (old houses, schools, hangouts...the kids were mildly interested) we headed out of town for a day in Yosemite. This truly has to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth! And the hardest accommodations on Earth to book...so off to Reno we go. So long California! See you again soon...I can never stay away too long!
