The Adventures of Jess & Chris!!
Morning, afternoon and evening to all, We have paid for Internet for 4 days so I can go wild with blog updates :) So we left Airlie beach and drove just outside Rockhampton to a place called Gracemere, on the way we kept driving in and out of Kangaroo territory; our current tally is minus 12 kangaroos. Sad to say, the only ones we've seen have been on the side of the road :( its not only the kangaroos who have suffered, whilst josh swapped with Chris to be driver we got some snacks from the back and I used my hand to lean against the campervan to have a good stretch -all of a sudden I hear Chris shout 'move your hand'. The side door slammed shut on my right hand and squished my three little fingers, but by some miracle they only swelled for one day and all the pain has gone. Definitely something we will laugh about one day but right now not so much. Arrived in Gracemere and it was that happy time again, Formula 1. By a stroke of luck there was a bar just up the road that even had the commentary on, so after a few drinks we had a good nights sleep and we even used our sleeping bags for the first time as it was so cool. Oh and there was a drive-thru liquor store, that's a first! As soon as we woke up we headed straight for Coles i.e. tesco, to get some snacks for the road, pop on the Internet to pay for the toll road and find somewhere to stay that night. We were unsuccessful finding a free rest area so we just hit the road which turned out to be a 10 hour drive! Josh and I played 20 questions and 'I went to market', all three of us played a game whereby you hum a song and the others had to guess what it was - thrilling stuff. Otherwise we watched the ever changing scenery and counted down the number of towns until we reached Brisbane. We drove over a huge bridge and on the other side was BRISBANE, we arrived in style singing to Queen and Creedence looking at the many lights of Brisbanes skyline. We found a glorious caravan park in Oxenford, the central point to all the major theme parks. We had a beer and congratulated ourselves on such a great journey, only another 950km to Sydney. First place we went to was Wet 'n' Wild water park, it has killer slides, a lazy river, slides in the dark and a dominoes yum yum. We stayed there all day until the park closed, absolutely shattered. Got to the campervan and oh dear the battery was flat, a kind man gave us a jump start and we went to pick up some essentials - beer. But again as we're trying to drive back to the caravan park the battery went flat, we got a jump start and drove it up the motorway to charge the battery. Finally we could relax have a beer and play cards, but Josh kept moaning about an unpleasant aroma and blaming Chris and I. We laughed childishly at the smell but once we were trying to get to sleep it was not so amusing. In fact we rung the campervan helpline as they said the potent eggy smell was coming from the battery which had run out of acid -excellent. So they were our wake up call this morning and arrived at 6.30am to fix it, that's efficiency. Unfortunately my ear has got progressively worse throughout the week, from swimming I think. We went to the doctors this morning who confirmed that I have a severe ear infection and has given me cream, drops and antibiotics. The consultation was fine until she poked me in the ear with an evil stick, I held the tears in until I got to the pharmacy where I had a breakdown. It's funny now looking back (6 hours ago) only because I'm taking loads of drugs :) Also when I walked into the consultation room she asked who Chris was and I said my husband, she said wow but you both have red hair, as I was in horrific pain it was not the best time to bring up hair colour. In total it came to 100 dollars, 60 for the doctor and 40 for the drugs which also included some starburst :) The boys concluded that we should have a chilling out day, we went to the pool on the caravan park where there's a slide, hot tub and huge chairs. I did two of these, I sat in the hot tub then had a nap in the chair. Fingers crossed Warner brothers movie world tomorrow as I'm already feeling a hundred times better than this morning. Chris and josh are well, Chris is napping and josh is cleaning. Hope everyone's well, Love to all, Love Jess, Chris and Josh xxx
