hey guys.. jake and paul here!
sorry we've been so lazy and havent put up anything til now but to be honest we spent the first few days settling in and the last 3 days in a tent so havent had a chance to jump ona computer but u've stil been in our thoughts x
when i say first few days settling in... we got into joburg late cause of delays but travelled 4 hours north to a ranch just outside of vaalwater to be greated by my aunt and uncle- as well as perfect timing for lunch! which we ate together with the guests infront of a beautiful lake and accross from a family of hippo!! our first hours in south africa and we're eating with hippo!! crazy!!
after we chilled out in th gorgeous sun for a little while (all th locals complaining at th cold!) we went for an afternoon ride... both mine and pauls first times riding so another first on just our first day. now for you guys that know paul you know that he's unique and needs looking after- only minutes into our ride... just outside of the ranch something spooks his horse and it starts to trot which scares the hell outa paul who leans back with a look of certain death on his face just managing to slow th horse (im meanwhile killing myself with laughter). it gets later into the ride and after the nervous start pauls just starting to relax abit more and kinda enjoy the lovely scenery his phone txt msg goes off- its kevo "pauls a superfreak, superfreak x x x" which spooks th horse again and off it trots nearly throwin paul off and scaring the hell out of him again! we manage to make it back in one piece- he swore to me never to ride again!!!
we then went home to my aunts house and settled into their guest cottage- our home for th next week or so...
the next day (friday) we woke up late to another gorgeous day, hot, clear just beautiful so we decide to enjoy it.. sit out in th sun and relax having organised a "Game Drive" in th afternoon... we travelled to entabenny a big game reserve where we had our first safari- our driver jeffery drove us round in a truck spotting the likes of giraffe, lions.. zebra and loads of impala- a sort of south african deer to be simple! after coming within 15m of wild lions 4 of them just led right next to us we really knew this was the wild.. this was real.. no bars, anything we'd seen in any zoo just couldnt compare..
the next day (saturday) i woke up at around 7am to go for an early morning ride but paul decided to give it a miss and stay in bed (probably wise), the ride itself was hard- through the bush a really hard trail to follow with lots of small routes to direct th horse through and in th open spaces lots of trotting and cantering and even a slow gallop- i felt like i was guna fall off every second but managed to hold on for dear life without looking as scared as paul!
i've challenged paul to get back ona horse atleast one more time before we leave so we'll see what happens!
even with one or two very small scares we're both stil here safe and sound and together looking out for eachother and its guna stay that way so to everyone back home- dont worry bout us we're having an absolutely amaizing time here and it really is everything we ever imagined and more!!
we miss you all alot, thank you all so much for every comment and please keep them coming and we'll try and post more of what w've seen and done!! loads of wolrdwide love!!
