Hi guys.. We eventually got to Phuket after the scariest overnight ferry ride ever! We were on a rickety old boat and it was really stormy so we were rocking all over the place. We were absolutely petrified! We then managed to sleep and after an 8 hour journey we then arrived in Surratthani at 5.30 in the morning and then had a 5 hour coach journey onto Phuket. We got to Phuket and got a taxi straight to Phuket town where we stayed at Phuket backpackers hostel which was a really nice place. We put some laundry in as we were lacking clean clothes, but we picked them up the next day and they had turned blue :( we weren't happy bunnys! We had tv and dvd players in our room and there was a massive collection of dvds that we could rent out for 40p! We also had free usage of the internet and there was a communal kitchen and common room which had a massive tv in. Once we had settled in, we took a walk around the market and discovered every fruit imaginable. We thought it would be funny to buy one each and try them all out! Melissa got the dragon fruit which was actually nice and Jade got a wierd spiky thing which was horrible! haha! We then got a taxi to the t-shirt factory and government place so the taxi man could get a stamp! We had a look around and there was loads of nice jewellery so we were in heaven! We then were really excited to go out for a nice meal, turned out to be the worst meal of our trip so far. We fancied some home comforts so went to an american place..but it was disgusting! So then resorted to going to the family mart and buying a baguette and butter..and a yoghurt! That evening we played scrabble and watched how to lose a guy in 10 days in our hostel room! Who would have thought this is what we'd be doing whilst travelling?! haha! The next day we spent the day looking at the temples.. there you go mummys, thats the cultural part for you! The best part was all the kittens we saw, haha! We went to chinese and buddha temples where you could light inscence sticks and pray! After the tiring cultural stuff, we got a taxi up a mountain to a hilltop view where there was a restaurant which we had a nice milkshake in! The taxi man that took us up the mountain was really strange, he kept saying how he'd take us around to all these places but we kept saying no.. He wouldn't give in as he waited for us up the top to go back down with him! Then when we were back down he kept going on at us again about letting him take us around and then got a tad funny when we refused! That night we decided to go out for a meal and leave the boys to the market food! We got a mo-ped taxi but it soon became clear he had no idea about where he was taking us so was quite a funny journey but we got there in the end! We went into a pizza company restaurant and had the best pizza ever with chips and garlic bread! Fattys! That night we went back and packed as we were leaving early the next morning and watched music and lyrics until we fell asleep.
Next morning we had to be up at 7 to catch the ferry to Phi Phi. We arrived at the ferry port in Phi Phi and it was a lush hot day and an absolutely beautiful place. As we stepped off the ferry celine dion titanic song was playing so was quite a memorable moment. We fell in love with the place in an instance. We then found a place to stay called RS Guesthouse in Tonsai village. There are no taxis on the island so we had to walk but wasnt too far thank god! We then noticed all the tsunami evacuation signs and got slightly worried! We took a wonder around, had some breakfast then looked through the market. We then went to Phi Phi hospital for Lou Lou's feet. They gave alot of tablets and said i couldnt drink alcohol or go in the sun or sea. So much for that! What do doctors know after all?! haha! That evening we went to the Ibiza bar where they had amazing firedancers. And everyone was joining in the fire limbo and fire skipping rope. They gave out free vodka infused watermelons, which were yummy! Melissa then got slighlty attacked by a Thai firedancer.. he made her a flower ring and bought her free drinks! Then it got a little scary so we made a move! We had an earlyish night as we had booked the boat trip for the next day. That morning we walked to the harbour and were searching for our speed boat, our thoughts were soon dampened when we were ushered towards a beaten old longboat. We then headed out to sea, it started off rather calm but as we were going from phi phi don to phi phi lay, it started to get rougher and rougher. Eventually the boat was crashing down on the waves and swaying side to side. It was really scary, we were all absolutely drenched and petrified. Once we got closer it calmed down and we stopped at phi phi lay where we had the chance to do some snorkelling. We were supposed to be getting the boat round to Maya bay which is where the beach is filmed but our driver said it was way too rough so we had to clamber across loads of coral and climb a massive ladder and walk along to Maya bay. There were loads of massive fat crabs, luckily Jade didn't see on the way! Lou lou had to be piggy backed as she had no shoes and the rocks hurt! It was well worth it though because as soon as we walked down, we were speechless and immediately hugged in silence and were stuck in the moment. It was the most beautiful thing ever. We suddenly got thrown out the moment when we were attacked by the blowing sand, painful! Jade used Melissa as a shield. Our friendship had a 30 second break up, haha! After clambering back we got onto the boat and went to monkey bay. The monkeys were so cute but we were scared to go near as we kept seeing them jump up onto peoples legs! We got close enough to feed them some watermelon which was really cool. One boat pulled up and a monkey jumped straight on and stole the bag of fruit! haha. There were monkeys being naughty having monkey sex, we closed our eyes! haha. We got back onto the boat and on the journey back we saw some guys doing the cliff jump. It looked scary but we all gave them a round of applause as we tucked into our fresh fruit that they supplied and got ourselves prepared for the rocky journey back. Again it was really scary. We were hiding behind our towels and as soon as we looked up, we'd hit a wave, scream then fall off the chairs whilst in fits of giggles! We think we were the boats entertainment, apart from the girl that put on her snorkel mask to shield her from the sea! It was hilarious! When we got back we were on such a high from an amazing day that we decided we wanted to have a nice evening. We chose a nice place to eat and went in search of a nice bar. We came across a little bar that had a young thai man playing an acoustic guitar and singing. He was absolutely amazing and had us in tears singing the songs that have now become the ones that the four of us now call "our song". It was also sad as we knew the next night would be the one before we all went our separate ways. After he had finished singing, the fire dancers started and they were the best we had seen, absolutely amazing! Then a guy did martial arts which was quite cringey as he was banging nails into wood with his head and bending a massive sword into his neck, but we couldn't help but watch whilst hiding behind our hands! It was the perfect day, followed by the perfect night. The next day we took a final stroll around the market and bought a few things and had a nice chilled out day on the beach. It was our final evening and we were all going to go out for a nice meal so we got back from the beach to have a nice shower and get dressed up, but we walked in on a cockroach in the bathroom and screamed so loudly the guys heard us from along the corridor! After watching the cockraoch for half hour to make sure it left, we then got in the shower to find the drains were blocked so the hostel staff had to come and unblock it, they were laughing at us as we still had shampoo in our hair! We went to a really nice restaurant that was over looking the sea and we all had a curry and cocktails. There was a really cute little kitten that got up on our table and we were playing with for ages. After the meal we went along to Apache bar to see yet again more firedancers. We all had a good old boogey after some jagermeister shots and buckets! After dancing the night away, we strolled back along the beach and had a final sit down. It was beautiful, we saw a shooting star. We then had to get up early the next morning with only 3 hours sleep to catch the ferry to Krabi. The guys kindly carried our bags to the port for the last time and gave us farewell presents before waving us off from the platform. They had one more night in Phi Phi before making there way to Kualalumper.
We arrived at Krabi at 10.30 in the morning and got a taxi to Krabi town. We stayed in a place called Chan Cha Lay guest house which was our cheapest accomodation so far but probably one of the nicest even though the shower was partly outside and cold, it was still quite refreshing! We decided to only stay in Krabi one night as there's not loads to do and we need to make our way onto Cambodia. We wanted to make the most of the time we had here so got a longboat over to Railay bay and walked along to Phranang beach. It was beautiful, surrounded by caves. On the longboat over, we met a girl from Oz, after chatting for a while she offered for us to stay with her when we get there so we have free accomodation! We have her number so might take her up on it! We had a nap on the beach to make up for the lack of sleep then when we woke up we realised we had to get the boat back quite soon so walked back along. We saw a jumping fishy on the boat! When we got back to Krabi town, we went and had a meal then just went back to the hostel and had a really early night as we now have a lot of travelling ahead of us. Were leaving here at 4.30 today to catch an overnight bus back up to Bangkok. We'll get to Khao san road at 6 in the morning then were hoping to get an overnight coach that same day to Cambodia which will take another 12 hours.
You probably wont here from us for a while as Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos are going to be quite hectic and rushed, so we'll be in touch as soon as we can. Hope everyones okay at home. Love you all. Jadey and lou lou.. aka.. melibu and norm xxxxxxxxxxxxx
