On the 10th May we headed back to Tokyo. We had to go and get our flight tickets paid for and picked up. Well what a pain that was!!!! We had to wait for over an hour to pick up the tickets and head out of our way to do it! We were not best pleased as Jacqui was told it was a case of pick up and pay. So we headed off to look around the area and found a little play going on in a temple which was interesting. The buddha was throwing food out to the crowd We then headed to our Ryokan - which was a new building and very modern. We liked it alot. We had a jacuzzi to get rid of the aches and pains - mainly in Jacqui's feet. We then headed to a traditional Japanese restaurant for dinner. The food was amazing.
On the 11th we headed off for a sigh seeing day to Hakone - lots of different types of transport on this trip. Hakone is a region where Mount Fuji is. Once we got to the region we caught a number of trains up the side of the mountains which where really pretty. We then got on what the Japanese called a Cable Car - it is a funicular to us. Once we got to the top of this we caught a ropeway - a cable car to us across the region. It was beautiful we got a good view of Mount Fuji with a little bit of snow on the top. We got off and had a look around a volanic area where the Japanese go to boil their eggs in the volanic sulphur pools. It did smell a bit funny up there We then caught a lovely pirate ship for a trip across a lake where apparently you get great view of Mount Fuji. Neither of us saw the mountain till we got off the boat!!! That night we visited the same Japanese restaurant from the day before and headed home early to watch the Quiet American.
On the 12th we headed off on a day trip to Nikko home of a number of temples, which according to the books are over the top. Neen and I both liked them - lots of red buildings and lots of wooden carvings. We visited 5 temples and had a lovely day out Neen then went on an explore of his own whilst Jacqui headed back to watch a DVD and sleep - she is getting old now.
On the 13th we packed up all our stuff and headed off out for our final look at Tokyo. We went off to Tokyo island via the Monorail and has a lovely lunch. We then caught the ferry back to central Tokyo which was nice - had a quick look around at another temple!!! The it was time to get our things and head off to the airport ready for our flight to Aussie
