Hello all! I am in Berlin. In Berlin I have been to the Nazi museum and Legoland! Yes, I also relished the contrast. Also I am staying in East Germany right next to Karl Marx Allee. Ooooh, communism.
Fun facts about Berlin:
1. In 1994 when Bill Clinton visited Berlin his tour was going to go past the Russian Embassy, outside of which they had a large bust of Lenin. The Russians were worried Clinton might see the bust and 'be embarrassed'. So they put a cardboard box over Lenin's head! So yes, Clinton definitely noticed the statue after that...
Hmmm, that pretty much ends my fun facts about Berlin, now that I think about it. I did learn a lot of other facts about Berlin, mainly to do with Nazis and Communists. Did you know that apart from a few Nazis who were prosecuted in the Nuremberg trials and put to death, most Nazis who were charged with war crimes only went to prison for about 4 or 5 years? I'm talking about guys who murdered 30,000 people. Not cool.
Also, partially fun, mainly spooky fact fact, when Berlin was divided into East and West in the East they shut down all the underground train stations but lines kind of went through West, into East and then West again so basically if you were in the West you could catch a train right under East Berlin and look out the window and see guards at each station watching you. But because they were afraid the guards might escape East Berlin by going through the tunnel they were locked inside their guard booths at the station.
