It was another early morning and back on the bus to go and visit Dambulla and Matale on our way to the city of Kandy. We stopped at the Golden Rock Temple in Dambulla and were amazed by the ruins of this once huge city in the middle of the jungle. The King definitely knew how to live with his own personal lake, palace, swimming pool, all complete with indoor plumbing and a whole house full of concubines. It was getting very hot and we were longing for some air conditioning so it was back on the bus to drive through the winding mountain roads up to Kandy, a city high in the hills of Sri Lanka. We stopped for lunch at a beautiful hotel overlooking a waterfall and were amazed by the landscape. We arrived in Kandy just in time to see a cultural dancing and drumming show complete with fire throwers and firewalkers! It was a long but amazing day and we were looking forward to tomorrow when we would see some woodworking and visit the world-famous Temple of the Tooth.
