Long old day today driving - Cyclone Marcia has been on our tail, and the Goldcoast will suffer so we had to make tracks south., hopefully to better weather. We've discovered the camper can't handle this torrential rain and has sprung a leak. Poor Tina.
We drive south stopping at Coffs Harbour - sadly we can't visit Mutton Island due to the weather, but the harbour is pretty and as a half way point in a ten-hour race against a cyclone, we opt for a break. We grab a drink in the "Latitude 30" bar with great views of the harbour and its' crazy waves - such a great view that a camera crew rock up to report the news - swear they are following us!
We've had our 15 minutes of fame on Surfers Paradise, so humbly walk away from this one and head down to the "Attitude Cafe" for some chips. If you ever visit Coffs you must order these amazing salt and chill chips - they were literally the best we've ever had!!! So good we had to re-order.
We drove onto make tracks for a town near Newcastle city called Karuah - it appears to have decent weather and a pool so were sold at $15 a night and book in for two days hoping to get to Sydney after the rain passes. It's an early night, poor Matt's wrecked driving - might explore the area tomorrow.
