Travelling Ko Phangan: I would call these two days my first experience of "Proper Travelling".
After a 10 hour journey from Khao Lak our group relaxed and dined in a restaurant looking across the sea horizon. Beautiful to say the least and probably one of the nicest views since I arrived in Thailand but could I expect any less when we were on an Island in middle of the Thailand Gulf.
The next morning Myself, Luke and Jess thought we deserved a nice Thai massage, except I had sunburn so I decided to throw some aloe vera serum in the massage too. Saturday was sorted for us, at least for an hour anyway. As the clouds crept in front of the sun everybody dipped into the luke-warm swimming pool at my accommodation (Salad Beach Resort, Haad Salad/Haad Yao) to freshen up and keep warm. The sea was even warmer! Overall a chilled out day whereby nobody fancied exploring except a second beach in Wang Sai resort (See Blog Pic).
<Big yawn> I woke up to a nice sea view at Haad Yao Bayview Resort and Spa. Today was going to be a day of exploring by myself with nobody to consider but myself and the scooter which I was renting. My first stop was a small village, with an amazing back drop of surrounding forests and small harbor with some short tail boat. Short-stay but worthwhile. I then travelled five minutes up the road to another stop which was Paradise waterfall. I thought it was going to be a pointless stop due to the lack of rainfall until I was told there were some water and a giant feeding spider. I definitely wanted to see this monster. After around a 5 minute uphill trek I finally made it; the spider was scary and massive! Oh the waterfall, minimal water enough said L. Keeping moving I rid the scooter some miles further until I got to the "The Goddess of Mercy shrine". It was so colourful and very aromatic with the burning candles outside all the buildings. Once again another great view. The final place I stopped was at Chaloklum where I wanted to chance seeing a waterfall with enough water flowing but it was unfortunately an unsuccessful visit on that front. I did have my first feeding experience with elephants mind.
Seeing elephants at the side of the road here-and-there was nice, but to pay only 95p to feed a bunch of banana's to this huge animal was definitely a life time experience I recommend to anyone. Still, I hope I can ride and trek with them at some point; <wink> Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. And then I returned for the Full Moon Party which was crazy and populated with so many reckless people. Yes even me, I did skip in a circle of burning fire a few days ago as I wanted to test my skipping I was so used to at Kickboxing. After the party there was no time to sleep and the travel back to Khao Lak via a ferry and two buses commenced. Sleeping on the move with no foot rest or bed, please do not get jealous ha.
Speak soon and as always I love my family and friends at home.
