Hi from Hollywood,
Since my last blog I have visited San Diego, California. San Diego is a very pretty place and much like a seaside village. It is California's second largest city and the United States' eighth largest. When I first arrived in San Diego the weather was much the same as San Francisco, however on my second day the sun made and appearance and much to my delight continued to shine throughout the week with temperatures in the low 80’s.
I stayed in a nice hotel in downtown San Diego on Pacific Highway which is one block from the sea front and within 5 min’s walk from a place called Seaport Village. Seaport Village is really nice place and is very relaxing, you can stroll by shops, walk the boardwalk along the San Diego Bay, have a bite to eat, listen to some music, or ride the hand carved carousel which is Beautiful. San Diego is also the home to the USS Midway which was an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, and the lead ship of her class. She the first to be commissioned after the end of World War II and was also active in the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm, as you can see I have done my homework.
Anyway she is now a museum ship at the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum. I can not put into words how big she actaully is as it kind of takes your breath away but to give to an idea she has a four acre flight deck.
To the left of the USS Midway on the Sea Front is a giant statue of a Sailor and a Nurse from 1940’s Kissing (See Photo Album) it was inspired by the iconic photo of a nurse embraced in a kiss with a sailor in Times Square on the day World War II ended and to see it against the view of the Midway is really nice.
Anyway I am now in Hollywood and the weather is a glorious 83 degree according to the news but it feels a lot hotter than that. Yesterday I visited the Grauman's Chinese theatre which is home to the hand and foot prints of the stars. I also got to see the famous Hollywood sign and the Walk of Fame with its black pavements with pink stars and famous name on them. I am just on my way out of my hotel now to explore some more and will keep you posted if I see any stars.
