We stayed in miserable little motel at a place called Goulais River, just west of Sault Ste. Marie. There was a little bay nearby - in Lake Superior - where Elenka went for a swim. It would be our only opportunity to get in the big lake. There was little access in towns along the north of Superior and when got to Minnesota, the waters, because of the openness, were just too cold.
