My first week with Mary-Lou and Simon, Maureen and Christo was so much fun.
We started team hats and team no hats. My team, the no hats were winning convincingly with Mary Lou and her positive criticisms... Several wimpys which Simon helped me find "the" drink, creme soda... Exploring the local beaches and watching Christo and Mary Lou race along the beach was especially nice to see, Christo could probably run further than me!! We all crammed into Simons hired car and did numerous game drives and saw 4-5 caracal (wild cats), eagles, hawks, giraffe, zebra, springbok, ostrich, wilder-beast, loads of bird species, warthog and plenty of larger buck species. It was amazing what we spotted from the car, and just exploring around for free.
We visited shopping malls, port Alfred, cannon rocks with the old shipwreck and the oldest pub in Africa. I had my tie nails painted whilst I was sleeping innocently on the sofa by miss Maureen.
It was nice to see Maureen and ML together. They are such good friends and I have only ever seen them separately. Maureen would be constantly pulling pranks on ML, mainly putting fake bugs around the place and waiting for the screams. ML would get her revenge, but in her own way. It was hilarious and helped everyone relax.
We met ML's cousin yanni and his wife, who stayed with us until mike arrived which was nice. We all loved the pizza restaurant by the beach.
I have also received a present from home via ML and Simon. A new camera courtesy of the tax man! Brilliant! So lots of experimental photos were taken, a few personal favourites were of the tortoise that lives in their garden and also of their resident banded mongoose.
We were really treated and time after time I was so pleased I was with these guys.
What did annoy me slightly at the time was that they wouldn't take a penny for food, accommodation, petrol, trips or anything. I felt so guilty that they were paying for not just me, but my friend as well. I couldn't do anything besides pinch their wallet and put money in! We washed up and when I went to get shopping from the local Market I wouldn't use their money.
We were lucky not just because they paid for things, but because they were all so kind and nice. Like a big family.
