Slightly worse for wear today. Tried to have a lie in but just wasn't happening since it was so humid. Finally decided I wasn't going to get any more sleep at 6. Tom kept sleeping through the sweat and stale smell of the dorm..
We headed into town some time later and found a great source if protein, milk. Milk in 3rd some countries like France tastes weird, long life stuff. Milk in Malawi is very nice indeed. Creamy, cold and in funny packets rather than cartons. Only 40p per litre!
We also scouted round for some kind of Internet cafe so I could put some pics in USB since my camera was full..
After finding a candidate for photos we cane across a pharmacy which we enquired about billhartsear treatment since we have web warned about this all over Malawi. You pick it up from the lake and can be fatal, possibly laying dormant for up too 30 years or more. Basically small snails get into your feet and lay eggs, multiplying more and more until one day they reach vital organs and destroy them!!
Met a nice S.A chap who is sleeping in our dorm tonight, he has a very impressive name "Claudius opysseus" although he apparently snorts VERY loudly!! Must be in his late 40's traveling on his own due to a gap in work commitments.... We stayed up quite late before I fell asleep on the table... Tom was quite Ill with an upset stomach, so went to bed early.
Also met a Danish chap who last year, worked for the same company we used to go White shark diving in South Africa as a marine tagger. Taking photos and tagging all the great whites. Fascinating guy. Most impressive fact... 2 largest ever great White sharks were caught by fishermen off the shore if Cyprus! 2.5 tonne and both 6m in length!!!!
