Back to kiwi land we go...
Sumner, New Zealand
After an amazing few months at home, seeing family, attending some awesome weddings including my brother jacks and catching up with our friends it was time to head back to New Zealand. After saying our goodbyes to my mum and dad it was time to take off from a chilly Heathrow. 28 hours and 2 stops later we arrived in a sunny but windy Christchurch. Jacks sister, soph and her husband dan picked us up and we headed back to their house in sumner, which is a suburb just outside of Christchurch, right on the beach. A quick catch up and food, and me and jack couldn't fight the tiredness anymore.. 7pm and we went to bed.
Waking up Thursday morning at half 6, it was clear to see our body clocks were pretty messed up. We managed to pretend we were sleeping til 8 but then we had to get up. We headed into the city to see some of our favourite spots from last year, including the container mall where they have a British and American grocers store, stocked up on sweets we headed to westfield, riccarton, a huge shopping center, and heading round the shops. Still jet lagged we didn't look for very long. After a quick maccies (shock) we headed back to soph and dans house where we would be staying for the next 5 nights. We chucked a human planet DVD in and spent the night on the sofa fighting the jet lag.
Friday!!!!! My birthday!!!!! Waking up like a kid at Christmas I made jack go and get my presents so I could open then all in bed!! After opening my awesome presents I skyped mum and dad to show then what I'd got.. You'd think I was 12 not 20 hahah!!!
For my birthday present jack had booked us to go swimming with wild dolphins in akaroa, after a quick breakfast in our fav place, joes garage, we headed on our way to akaroa, which was about and hour and a halfs drive. I was a bit nervous when we arrived because I didn't really know what to expect with the dolphin swim, plus it didn't help that my family had previously been joking to watch out for the sharks!!!! We had a look around the shops then went to meet the people we were going on the swim with.
All wet suited up we jumped on the boat and were taken half a mile out to sea. It was pretty calm, we had to drive on the boat until we spotted some dolphins. After about 10 minutes we spotted 4 dolphins, so the boat was stopped and we were told to gently enter the water, the guys on the boat shouted to us to spread out and then all of a sudden they shouted there's 4 dolphins in the middle of you, I didn't really know what to expect as I'd never even seen a dolphin up close before., it was awesome, they were so tiny. They dipped and dived all around us, it was crazy. The guys on the boat would shout any time you were near them and you'd turn round like WWWWWAAAAAAAWW, so funny! We were In the water for two hours, we only had our wetsuits on so we had to tread water to stay a float!!! They told us it was time to get back on the boat, a little disappointing, but an amazing experience. We jumped back on the boat and headed back to land, me and jack stayed out the back of the boat and they brought us a hot chocolate and a ginger biddy, ideal. Back on dry land we had a hot shower and headed home.
Still feeling the effects of jet lag and tired from two hours on the water we decided against going out for my birthday so grabbed our fav burger stop burgers, a few beers and a film and headed back to soph and dans to chill out.
A perfect start to our New Zealand adventure and an awesome birthday.

Your time swimming with dolphins sounded fantastic, you are one very spoilt girl, how is Jack going to top that for your christmas present. Thanks for your address, I m going to have to organise myself and get my cards sorted. Take care sweetie and love to Jack. xx
