Well...I have just been having some of the best bloody days of my life!
Still in Bali, been here just over two weeks now. After we left Vanessa's, Fizz and I moved into Kuta (party town) and met up with Alex, Ross and Seb...some friends from home we road tripped a bit with in Australia. They had just come back from the Gili Islands and met a really cool group of guys who we have now latched ourselves onto!
We moved into their hotel, 'Gemini Star', also known as 'THE PARTY HOTEL' and all got to know eachother after a couple of nights out! We had a really great night and I was having loads of fun, untill my purse was stolen. Gutted for me! Luckily nothing important in it and about 70p worth inside (would buy someone a drink!).
After a day down the beach called Dreamland, watching the guys surf, we all decided that the next day we should head off on a road trip around Bali.
Jasper and Olivia had already rented mopeds, so the rest of the boys did and we started with a biker gang of like, 8 bikes? We drove to Ubud, spent ages trying to find a hotel to accommodate 12 people, ate dinner, the next day we tried one of the top things to do in Ubud...suckling pig. It was alright! Was expecting a bit more though, everyone made a huge bloody fuss about a bit of pork. We also visted a Temple with cold springs, where the locals go in to pray. We were all allowed in (clothed)...you pray to each spring, drink a bit of water and spit it out and then dunk your head in. Me and fizz got half way through before realising that firstly, we'd been drinking Balienese water, and that secondly, the water was coming from a pond. Great. On our way out of Ubud we got caught in pissing rain which delayed our journey, but as we worked out way higher, and it got colder, and we were shoving on all of jaspers clothes, we ended up at this amazing view of the sun beginning to set over some mountains. PHOTO OP!
We stayed by the lake and were told by a tour guide man about a morning tour of Mount Batour...a Volcano you can climb where you watch the sunrise. Next morning, after a 3.30am start, i'm half way up this bloody mountain, sweating my t*** off, DYING, behind the rest of the group cos I was ill and incredibley unfit...but stopped at watched the sunrise and it was the most incredible view i have ever seen in my entire life (photos to come). There was like a sea of fluffy clouds floating above the lake, and the sun creeping slowly up...colours changing every minute! When the sun was finally up, I had to climb the rest of the bloody thing. It was a ROCK CLIMB. At the top, I was offered a lovely breakfast off egg and banana. I passed. The climb down was spend mainly on my arse...i have nice brown shorts now. After about 3 hours I finally made it down with many bruises, scratches and an enormas sense of achievement. Those who know me well know I pretty much would rather chop off an arm than go for a walk, let alone a climb. So congratulate me please.
Afterwards we were told we were going to the HOT SPRINGS! Sounds awesome right? We couldn't wait for a brilliant soak in a natural, jacuzzi-type place. We walked around the corner and there stood about 6 showers. Hot showers, but they were still showers. All it was was some locals washing their willies. We made the most of it and all got our bums out for a great photo!
We separated from Alex, Ross and Seb after then, who were heading back to Kuta, and the rest of us trudged onto Lovina. Our back tire popped a little bit. Fine now. Stayed in a lovely little homestay looking right onto the beach. We went out and did a bit of sober kareoke to abba and then went home because we got up at bloody 3.30am!
Yesterday, we drove from Lovina, straight down the middle of Bali pretty much, to some GOOD HOT SPRINGS! Far better, it was a giant bath! Really cool...we ate lunch there and then drove on the bikes for a while to a town called Munduk, where we just got beers and sat looking over a view of a small town with mountains in the background. We ended up pissing off the hotel stayers with our late night antics, music and dancing and general drunkeness. GUTTED. Whilst in this town also, we passed a family of 3 members, parents and a son, all dressed in beige trecking up a hill. We called them 'beige treckers'. SAW THEM EVERYWHERE! They were even at the same hotel, we saw them STILL IN BEIGE eating dinner. Was hilarious.
Anyway, today we woke up early as we were off to see a waterfall. About 2 hours later, after waking up completely pointlessly, we left. The waterfall was so cool, bloody freezing and so forcefull. I didn't bother going higher than my thighs and i was still bloody soaked from all the spray. We had some cool photos taken, and then decided to get the hell outta there!! We were trying to make it to 'Tanah Lot', a very famous temple in Bali which is on it's own little island, for sunset. After getting caught in some AWFUL rain and being soaked, stopping off for some tea, we made it and watched a lovely sunset.
And then, we made it to Kuta, and here I am. Believe it or not, this is only a brief story. I've missed out all the gossipy, saucy, naughty bits because I'M A BIG FAT TEASE!
Bye! xxxx
