Hello!
It's been a great week here "at home". I've slept well, eaten well and seen many sides of San Jose. The first night here we just chilled and went to sleep early. Also the next day I really didnt do much, mostly just enjoyed the comfy bed and armchair hehe. But Tuula did take me with her to watch her Finnish class and I had a blast! I learned so much about my language that I was stunned, I didnt know that we lose our breath while talking and that we join word.. whaat? Good observations!
The next day we went to have coffee at starbucks with Roy. Actually I just had the normal frappucino again, regardless of my cold. The following chaitea did soothe my throat a little though. We did actually go to the farmers market to buy delicious berries and fruits and also some really weird popcorn. Later we went shopping with Johanna and Joe. I was about to buy half of the mall, but I tried to calm myself down...and almost was successfull. I only bought surfingshorts and a new bikini! That night it was the time for makaroonilaatikko. IT WAS SO GOOD. I mean even though I made it, it was just so good 'cos it was so finnish style food.
Actually now I have to admit, i'm not sure if this is the proper order in how everything happened, seems a little like i've been half asleep during the week. Its great to relax. Anyway, i'll tell you .. Like you care about the order anyway!
so, next it was time for me to umm.. enjoy the nightlife on San Jose. We planned on going to have margaritas at chili's, but the bartender didnt accept my OFFICIAL Id..stupid. So we went to get my passport and drove downtown. We parked the car and then Joe informs that he left his wallet at their place, including his id. So, we go in the car again and drove to get that. (Nica flat though you got, Johanna and Joe!) and finally we got to the bar. And I had sex on the beach. The drink. A band called Timeless was performing at Brits, and I reaaally liked them! good honest funk. One of the singers looked like the guy from Outkast. Google them or youtube them or sumthin!
Phew, I was a little tired the next day when I went to see how the school works in this part of the world. It was quite fun, the students were as wild as in Finland, but really cute still. I told them about my trip and then I asked if they have something to ask about Finland: "Do you have shopping malls there?". Good one! I also visited the arts class, which was interesting.
Again at starbucks. Again frappucino. This time I got the vanilla one. Not as good.
We made some greeksalad that evening, ah it was sooo goood again! Feels just like home here. A little better though cos one morning I woke up and my laundry was done, dry and folded on the chair. WOW! Thank you Tuula, you have been wonderful. After dinner we went to see a movie Bangkok Dangerous and I was already scared during the previews.. But the movie was really good! You should go see it when it comes to Finland.. in six months.
This morning I got up early, thank you Tuula for waking me up! We left to San Francisco, just the two of us. First we went to Twin Peaks (not the tv series, I mean the actual hills!) and saw the wow beautiful San Francisco. Then we headed to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was really red and big, but seriously, very impressive. The waves looked good too. It was time for some lunch, So we got to Pier 69 or was it 39... And had some spaguetti with shrimps. It was good, but not as good as the one in Tamarindo.
We thought we'd look into some of the shops and then ended up looking at almost all of the shops and the stuff in them. But I bought nothing. The hoodie and bag I wanted were really expensive, so I thought I'd wait till Australia.as for my cold, it's still on so Tuula had an idea. Irish coffee will do good for the cold! And suddenly we were already at Buena Vista for the traditional irish coffees. It was really good. Really.
Then it was time for the part I think I'd been waiting for the most: the beach! Uh, there were so many surfers and quite good waves too. I only took photos, the water was reaaally cold for me. This time the photos actually looked like something cos Tuula borrowed her big lens for me. You'll see them later. We met some of Tuulas friends at the beach, Santtu and Annika and Santtu's (or Sean) wife. It was great talking to sean about surfing because he knew so much about it! My feet and mind are tingling now, I really need to get that surfboard in my hands again.
It was getting late so we headed home through the tough fog of San Francisco and got to the beautiful and clear San Jose. Now it's time for me to relax and to try to get rid of my cold so that tomorrow in Fiji I'll be feeling good and ready to snorkle and see the paradise islands.
A BIG thank you for the Beals family! It was lovely to see you all.
Miss you all in Finland too, take care and enjoy the fall. I really miss that.
