The Life of a Traveller:
It is the conclusion of my first week and I feel it is important to sumarise a few things before I head into the next. These are just the short notations of a traveller new to his status quo.
There must be an exact science to living out of a suitcase, or in my situation a mammoth back-pack full of various items that vary in importance to my stay here but non of which can be found in a suitable time limit. I'm fairly sure 3 or 4 old people share their final moments with loved ones, write their will send it off to a solicitor then get told that in the 60's they lost s*** loads of money on "peace and love" so they can't actually will their chosen monetary figure away and have to alter the will, 3 drafts later it is approved, they die, but only momentarily and awake to have that one more tearful farewell in the time it takes Iskandar to find his toothbrush.
And honestly, when did it come into design that pockets get pockets!? You know! Seriously. I look in one pocket to no avail, and my immediate thought is; "Well it can't be in there!" but of course nearly an hour later, you realise some clever swiss man has hidden a ridiculous sized pocket (reserved for items belonging to humans no larger than a foot long) inside another pocket. Suddenly you remember, in the hustle and bustle of finding a place for everything, you thought it would be ever so smart of you to place your toothbrush in this pocket for midges ... not midgets my good people, midges.
All that aside. At least all my things are in one place at any given time.
My next point of rant is one of positivity. England landscapers know what gardens are! Oh its fantastic. I think I underestimated the tranquility of a garden. I sat today writing in my journal. Yes. It has come with me all this way. In the garden of the house I am staying in. It was so therapeutic a truly refreshing place to enjoy R&R as opposed to a concrete yard.
Apart from acclimatising to living out of a case, this week and my days of settling in have been very rewarding. Not having a single child run up to me screaming, not having to disinfect any toilets, it has been ever so liberating and to be brutally honest well deserved. :D
The weekend approaches and with it the prospect of a BBQ in hot English weather (how charming) and the theatre. Much to report it would seem in the coming days. Stay safe friends and family. And thanks to those that left me messages.
Iskandar.
