Today we left Belfast and made our way North. The past few days have been misty and humid but today is just gorgeous. The Irish really appreciate the days with blue skies and sunshine. In Colorado I sometimes think we are spoiled with our beautiful weather and 300+ days of sunshine.
Today's drive took us along the coast heading North from Belfast. The road is called the Coastal Causeway road because of its proximity to the Giant's Causeway. The scenery is lovely as it winds along the Irish Sea and also inland where it is easy to know why it is said that Ireland has "40 shades of green". We detoured to the Island Magee just to savor the beautiful Irish countryside. In Larne, we stopped for lunch and bought some fruit at the green grocers in town. This was the weekend of their Oyster Festival. In truth, I only spotted a tent with hamburgers but perhaps the oysters were yet to come!
A bit further up the coast we stopped for afternoon tea in a lovely sea side village of Carnlough.
We arrived at Ballycastle mid afternoon. Our Bed and Breakfast overlooks the shoreline and across to Rathlin Island. Genevieve, our innkeeper, is a lovely woman. We chose this B & B because of its location and also because of the reviews it received on Trip Advisor. Dinner was at the Diamond Bar, again because of it's #1 rating on Trip Advisor and also because Rusty was there three years ago when he attended a genealogy conference here.
