Cheap Eats = Street Food for Dinner!!!
After breakfast yesterday we went for a walk up the beach for a couple of kms, and then went to get the bikes for the trip into town to get the wine before 2pm. However no bikes left. :( So we decided we would see if there were some after 5pm. Spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach. About 4pm it became very black and the rain rolled in. It rained for about an hour or so and then luckily cleared up again. So off we went to find our bikes. They were all back of course because of the rain. So we made our journey back into town trying to avoid the huge puddles everywhere along the way. No problems this time! Came back and had a lovely dinner at home for a change. We had bought a chicken at the supermarket for B125 - $4. So we sat outside on our terrace with our chicken and salad and wine, listening to our music on the dock. Very peaceful. And very cheap!
Today we got a scooter for the first time. Have had the first week just relaxing but now will start to get around a bit as we like. Hiring it for B180 per day ($6). We will have it for about a week to 10 days I think. We first took off for a tour right around the island today. Stopped for a little while in Lamai but just wanted to get a feel for where everything is again. We then came back to Nathon and stopped near the pier where the street food vendors were in full swing. It was about 6pm, so we decided to eat dinner there before going back home. Had some great food and cost us all of B160 - just over $5. Back home for a swim and just in time to see fireworks at the beach right next door. Now time for wine and music! Ahh this is the life!
