Monday 20th July
Yesterday morning we left Wytheville in the morning. We stopped at Wallmart to buy food for a cooked breakfast in the morning then got back on the road again. We arrived in Washington DC about 3pm and got settled into camp. This camp site is amazing, it's huge as well! We have a big roof top seating area in our camp area so half of us decided to just sleep outside. It's really hot and humid here so sleeping in a tent doesn't seem like the best of ideas anyway. When we were all unpacked and ready we went to the campsite pool. Penny and I got ice cream and a drink, sat beside the pool and ate it and then got in. When we got out of the pool we headed over to the camp site shop, it's amazing and so cheap! We then had a really nice stir fry for dinner which everyone was happy about. After dinner we headed out to see the monuments lit up at night - we went to the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, Albert Einstein statue, Lincoln Memorial and the White House. We stood and spoke to one of The president security guards for a wee while, asking him lots of questions and finding out interesting facts. We got back to camp about 11:30 and all went straight to sleep.
