Sunday 14th June
We had a free day in Chicago yesterday so we started by going up Willis Tower. It was awesome, got to see over Chicago, and stood in the open glass area. When we left there we went a walk to Buckingham fountain, millennium park, the silver bean and the spitting fountain. Got some pictures with each thing and then went a walk through the park which the music festival is at - we got free pizza there.. Result! We then walked along the river and headed down to Navy Pier. When we got there we had lunch then decided to do a boat trip. The boat trip was about 45 mins and took us past some of the big city buildings in Chicago. We then played the 'Kids in America' card and went to the fairground at navy pier. We went on a swinging chair roller coaster thing which was good fun. We then walked down to the beach, built a sand castle and lay in the sun for half an hour to chill out. We headed back up Michigan Avenue past all the shops. We decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner at night - 2 main courses was even too much to share between 5 of us. Portion sizes were huge!! We obviously had to have cheesecake for pudding. This was like half a cheesecake for each portion so we ended up taking half of it home with us. It was delicious though, so yummy!! We headed back up the street and did a wee bit of shopping but got caught in a thunder storm so ran back to the place we are staying in. We went to the social area and played pool for a few hours.
It was a lovely day, got lots done and the weather was great until the thunder storm at night. Really enjoyed my time in Chicago and would definitely go back there again - a beautiful place with lovely people.
