This morning the search for breakfast led me to a small place where I enjoyed BBQ pork with rice and eggs. It was delicious and the portion was good, on the way back to the hotel I brought Laura a pork and egg bun but unfortunately the meat was not as good as yesterday, which sort of put her off them... Shes a right sensitive one these days when it comes to food. Again, like yesterday, it was overcast this morning but very humid. I only walked five minutes and I felt I needed another shower.
We headed to a local cafe for a cheap black coffee and actually got a proper British style mug full of steaming black coffee... all for a mere ten thousand dong. This was a welcome substitute from the usual espresso type portions you get. After the caffeine we strolled south along the beach front and soon entered a few of the more executive type resorts. The beach improved slightly and we made use of a few photo opportunities. Both of us were sweating fairly profusely by now and were in much need of a cool beverage. This came in the form of a ice cold cokes from a local place near the seafront, which were poured into tankards over one large block of ice. Our walk back then led us back to the hustle and bustle of town where Laura suddenly had the urge for cheese and marmite sandwiches plus crisps. After stocking up we headed back to the air conditioned room to make our amazing lunch and have some respite from the heat.
The afternoon brought sporadic rain which truly put a damper on any possibility of beach lounging. The rain would just spit for ten mins or so and do nothing to the humid environment... we were kind of wishing a big storm would come and clear the air. There was a brief appearance by the sun around 4:30pm but this time our motivation had well and truly gone and Laura was engrossed in "Ghost", which was playing on the television. I attempted to read while she oooh'd and aaah'd over Patrick Swayze. After the movie was over we were saddened to see that HBC resorted back to playing the same movies which had been on loop for most of the week. A little bit of advice, "journey 2: the mysterious island" is one of the worst films I have ever sat through. Yes I watched it ...twice, out of boredom and because there was nothing else to do, but I reckon being branded with a hot iron on your backside would of been more entertaining. We also flitted over to CNN intermittently as the news had just broke this am that the actor who played Tony Soprano had died which was very sad as he was so young and a great actor. However the anchor was one of the most annoying men on earth and we couldn't tolerate him for to long.
As dusk turned to dark, we were debating dinner and decided to pop next door for the steak and eggs combo. As before, it was very tasty and the bread was crusty and warm. Unfortunately you can't linger long in this places as he turnover of customers it so high.... Always a good sign of really good food!
After dinner we went for a stroll and had a beer before heading back to our room where I found a website that I could actually stream TV shows off, on the iPad. Something that uses QuickTime rather than bloody flash player, this was amazing ...although also infuriating after seven months of cable tv. We popped out for some chocolates and curled up catching up on 'Game of Thrones'... Bliss, well for a while before the Internet cut out and we were once again stuck with reruns of "Bad boys" and "Swat". Tomorrow would be our last day in Nha Trang and then the night bus to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
