Laura had her best night sleep in ages and thankfully the morning was cool alongside the quiet fan which had been whirling all night. I checked the bathroom and there was no sign of any ants at all, always a bonus I guess. I turned on the shower and had a shock when the jet stream flew across the length of the room hitting the back wall. The shower was really powerful but unfortunately the holder that been set so the shower head angle was stupidly high. However Laura figured a way to wrap the head around a bamboo beam across the ceiling which created a nice waterfall type shower.
After dousing everything in the bathroom we headed off to enjoy our included breakfast. This included rice soup, toast and fruits accompanied with tea and coffee. As we ate I continued with the blogs and caught up on the latest news, which sadly consisted mostly of the Bombings in Boston and the resulting man hunt. We spent the morning lying outside our room with the sun on our feet and the fan on our faces whilst we read and chatted, it was extremely relaxing. The sun was gleaming off the river and all you could hear was singing birds and rustling leaves.
Towards lunchtime I decided to take a stroll into town primarily to get some money but also scope out the area. I stumbled across a little place which sold the local speciality, curry with noodles. Unable to pass up on the offer, I consumed a bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also managed to make a cash withdrawal form the bank, thankfully avoiding the charges. On my way back to the river I noticed a stall with a local lady making papaya salad. Knowing this was one of Laura's favourite Thai dishes I thought it would be nice to being one back to her. The lady made it completely from scratch, taking nearly ten minutes in the preparation. She even made a bowl out of a banana leave to serve it which was a really beautiful little touch. Laura loved it and said she will defiantly return for another at some point. I also managed to get a watermelon shake which Laura is very fond of at the moment so all in all I think she was pleased with her surprise lunch and brownie points were definitely earned lol.
The afternoon passed by with me chilling in our newly acquired hammock reading the news and reading my book, whilst Laura read a book she had picked up this morning a breakfast... Of which she finished this pm,the girls a machine! Just after 5pm, after the sun had tucked away behind the mountains, Kratos turned up for the evening. After chatting we headed into town and enjoyed some cheap local Thai food from the restaurant we tried yesterday, this was washed down with cheap beer. We had a post-meal stroll around town to burn off some calories and noted many bars and restaurants scattered around the area. It wasn't long before we headed back and the three of us chilled out on the decking at our place sipping an ice cold cheap beer. We eventually retired after midnight after we agreed to hit the bicycles tomorrow for our tour!
