So we're on our last but one day in Bangkok before we head up north to Chang Mai and then down south to the beaches! I cannot wait to see blue skies, water and sun! We've had a lovely time here but definately leaving less naive! Believed people on the first day that the Grand Palace was closed, they all say this to get on their tuk tuk and get free petrol from the shops they drive you to! We would have been annoyed by this but all our tuk tuk drivers got free petrol so we actually visited 4 temples and Rhian got a blouse made in beautiful Thai silk for nothing! Well travel was free, top not :)
Moment of the trip so far was definatley the 10 minutes where we were approached by a "tourist police" again telling us to get a boat trip before Grand Palace, con again! Then two minutes later two mental old Thai women threw corn bags at us and forced us to throw them to hundreds of pigeons, hands down the scariest moment of my life, gross, gross, gross! They didn't seem to know the word 'no' but definately knew the word 'money'. Looked so gobsmacked as we ran away but I only had a 1000 THB note on me! Horendous! But we got to the Grand Palace in the end and it was breathtakingly beautiful, our photos have not done it justice. I'm having problems uploading photos to this blog but here is the link to the album on Facebook :) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=348529&id=514995511&l=e4391a49e8
Embarassing moment so far was definately realising we hadn't been going to Koh San Road but the road next to it lol! Thought it was a bit quiet! Went down Koh San yesterday afternoon, got offered a fish massage where feet swim and I think eat the dead skin off your feet! Had the nicest spring rolls of my life too, oh my god yum!
Checking out at 12 today from Roof Place which I highly recommend! So nice to get up in the morning to eggs, toast and various thai food (have had chicken soup, noodles and red curry for brekkie this week!). Going to our new hotel to meet our Gap Adventures group, really hope they're nice! Can't wait to see Chiang Mai now, it's meant to be beautiful, I'm sure it'll be worth the 13 hour overnight sleeper train :)
Love you long time,
Alex xxx (and Rhian) :) xx
