That photo I chose for this blog isn't one of my own, but it is a place I went. Whitehaven beach, part of the Whitsunday Islands and the sand is so fine it's like snow, and so white too. Truely an experience.
I know I haven't blogged in a while but Austrlia is so so expensive! A 500g bag of cashews over $10!!! I have mainly been living off of biscuits and dry crackers, cheap and won't go moudly. As I'm not staying in places long enough it means I can't buy milk and bread, something I now crave!
Now to update on my experiences. The Great Barrier Reef, called great for a reason. I paid to an intro dive but loved it so much I forked out the money for a second, much longer dive; defnatley worth it! How often do you get to scuba dive on the most famous reef. One thing that has started to bug me though is how clown fishes don't exist anymore, they now go by the name "a nemo fish", but of course I did get the chance to swim with one. I even have some photos of me with a clown fishes cousin (less stripes and slightly bigger) and me with a GIANT clam, we are talking at least two times bigger than my head! The clams also have beautiful rich purple colours on them, so making their beautiful pearls. The colours of the fish were so vibrant, and watching fish in a natural habitat is fascinating. They are so graceful. I was not lucky enough to see a sea turtle though but who cares, I dove in the Great Barrier Reef!
I also did a lot of snorkling, mainly on the 2 day/2 night boat trip. A very smelly trip if I may say, no showers so we all stink together. I swam with massive schools of fish, they all dart around you in sync, it's amazing. I wanted to catch a few rays too of course so induldged in some fish feeding. Google batfish, they are HUGE. One beautiful fish they was a stunning turquoise and bigger than my torso! Blimey mate!
I have made so many friends, plenty of Germans so I have been sharing my German heritage. It reminded me of something that happened in China. Me and Josh saw a Chinese girl with a Nazi symbol tattooed on the back of her neck, as it means something else in Chinese but was rather shoking for us English folk.
Currently I am waiting for my bus, 10:30am here and my bus doesn't leave until 6:55pm! Plenty of time to kill but this is a very small town, which is nice as I don't have to get buses. Last night was the supposed "after party" for all of the sailing boats. I was on Boomerang and racing on a sailing boat was a whole experience in itself. Hoisting up the sails etc. But the entire time we were racing a boat named Condor and they beat us just at the end, but lucky for me I was sharing a dorm with everyone from Condor, in which none of them were English. Just my luck. I got it ripped out of me.
I will try to get some photos up but it's difficult as I need a memory card reader, and these computers are a bit retro.
In about the space of 30 seconds it has started to POUR down with rain, it was really hot and sunny before. Australian winter, ay?
Well I hope everyone stays safe and I will end todays blog here to save from bordem.
