This morning Virginia and Josh headed up the street for a pedicure and Alan stayed in the apartment to do a bit of Cuban Adventures work
After a salad lunch at Wine Connection we headed off to explore Chinatown.
River boat up to Memorial Bridge then started our walk through the fruit, vegetable and flower market which was winding down but still very interesting
Onward through the streets, narrow lanes and alleyways of Chinatown where every inch of space on footpaths and streets is taken by a stall of some sort or other - just enough room for a motor cycle and sometimes a car
Ended up at the temple housing the solid gold Buddha - 5.5 tonnes of gold, value 28 million pounds. They covered it with plaster when invaded to stop the invaders taking it then over time forgot it was made of gold till some plaster fell off when they tried to move it - quite amazing
Underground back to pier then swim at apartment block pool
Dinner tonight at Nahm, Australian David Thompson's restaurant - we had the set menu expecting it to come out in stages but no all at once as they do here - beautiful food but a bit of a challenge working out what went with what. A couple of bottles of Grosset Riesling for half the SA price capped off the night.
Back "home" for our last night in the apartment
Intrepid Tour starts tomorrow
