A lot has happened since the last blog entry and the final horse has now arrived. Susannah has named him Noah (due to the fact that it rains every day and he will hopefully take us safely to La Paz!) He is loving his new life away from the jungle and was quite overwhelmed with the amount of food he has recieved. He has settled into our training regime but he has yet to bond with the other horses. Susannah has now returned to the UK but she has been a massive help in training the horses and she may have departed but Papollo has named a cow in her honour.
We have all learnt how to do Ecuadorian style dancing and Susannah was spoilt for choice with all the boys around. We hope that this will stand us all in good stead should we happen to pass any local fiestas and we should now easily blend in.
We attempted our first night camping up at the monastery near San Pablo and we recieved our first visit from the police. Luckily we had the farm manager (Papollo) with us who offered them all a drink... We went on what was supposed to be a 25km ride yesterday but due to a 20 year old map and some questionable map reading we ended up doing around 40km. We are hoping that the map reading skills improve quickly or we may be set for a 10 000km trek! We are now moving further afield for our next camping attempt and the update will soon follow.
All the equipment is now in ecuador (although it is still stuck in customs). We are still hoping to start the trek in 10 days...
