I've arrived! And am safe and sound!
It's incredibly hot and humid here, which on top of the time difference, is making it interesting to get used to! Have only seen one other westerner since I arrived here so am being constantly stared at! I'm relying on the kindness of strangers who speak English while shopping as hardly anyone here does. Was taken out for the day yesterday by a couple of people from the college and tasted my first real Chinese cuisine, deeelish! Not tried any wierd bits of animal yet, but did ask about the famous fried chicken feet..apparently they're an acquired taste!
Starting work next week so will hopefully meet some nice peeps. Apparently there are some other youngens from the UK and USA working here so we shall see!
Hope you're all doing good. I'm going to venture back out to the heat and try and get me some food - let's hope my charades skills are up to scratch!

beate imo, great to read about it -quite hard to imagine you being in this totally different culture!here its normal Germany, but we, Frauke and I, smuggled ourselves into the opera last night, with the help of a kind musician friend!First concert on friday night went well, though we broke off the pedals as piano was lifted off the stage afterwards -that's a first! Look after yourself, lots of love....M
beate hi! soooo exciting -just saw on the satellite picture where you are, could see the buildings, the one you are in, and the road nearby, and also some nice trees on the left!! but it wouldn't let me zoom into the chicken feet!!!
