My first meeting with Rio was short, only 3 days. But as I'm holding a return ticket from the same Rio I know I will have time again there in a year or so.
Anne and I arrived early morning after a fine flight according to plans, and after finding our hostel we decided to head to the beach right away. Living at CobaCabana and having 400m to the beautiful white sand beach, it's the only right thing to do, we agreed! Feet in the sand, colorful drink in the hand - and surrounded by sells men who could tell by our skin color that we arrived just hours ago.
We didn't stay long at the beach, but wander off to get nice food and a long walk around the area, partly to keep us awake actually.
Back at the hostel the punishment of stupid tourist actions started to show it's face, as Anne has got a bad sunburn on feet, legs and back and I had stomach ache and ended up throwing up during the night, big time. Welcome to Rio!
The next two days we took everything slow. We didn't weep from our pain but set the expectation level down and went slow from A to B. So we managed to visit Christo on top of the hill and enjoyed the amazing view of Rio and we went to Ipanema and the botanical garden, which was very nice.
Then it was already time to ship off to get to Iguazu, so off we went.
