We are going onto Mt Pilatus which is a mountain approximately 7000 ft above sea level and Eduard Locher an engineer put forward the idea of building a railway up to Mt Pilatus in the 19 century. The 4618m long stretch of railway was was opened in1889 and the steam operation was opened in 1937.
There is a hotel imbedded in the mountain called Pilatus-Kulm Mountain Hotel built in 1890 and hotel Bellevue which appears to have been built recently with well prepared restaurant and function rooms.
We went up be train unbelievable engineering.
The experience is unique, the trip takes you through meadows and rock faces on "the world's steepest cogwheel railway, with a gradient of 48%.
After spending some time on the mountain breathing in the pure air we returned to our coach by the aerial cableway which carries 51 people and takes 5 minutes, and then by panorama gondolas ( nothing like Venice) which carry 4 people and takes 30 minutes, this experience is adventure which must not be missed if you ever come to Switzerland .
